Bajaj Auto all-new Discover 100T with extra features launched

Bajaj Auto has launched the world’s most advanced 100cc bike, the Discover 100T, designed to revolutionize the 100cc motorcycle segment in India. Powered by Bajaj’s patented 4-valve DTS-i technology, the Discover 100T Tourer delivers an unbelievable 10.2 Ps of power, 30 per cent more than other 100cc motorcycles, while still delivering fuel efficiency of 87.3 kpl.
Elaborating on the company strategy at the press meet held in Chennai on the occasion, Mr. R. Chandrashekar, General Manager - Sales, said: “For too long, the average commuter had to be satisfied with boring and undifferentiated 100cc bikes. While 100cc bikes do offer good mileage, their style, features and performance leave a lot to be desired. The steady growth of the more expensive 100cc bikes at the cost of the cheaper models is a clear evidence of this.”
He added: “The all new Discover 100T delivers the power of a 125cc with the economy of a 100cc to bring in the joy of riding to this segment. We call it the ‘The Ultimate 100’ as it brings unprecedented levels of power, style and features to this important segment of the market.”

Mr. Chandrashekar observed: “The Discover has done very well in Tamil Nadu. We already have a total of 4,68,267 vehicles on the road. We will further increase our volumes and marketshare with this launch. The Discover 100T will be priced at Rs. 51,980 (ex-showroom). It will be available in four colors – Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, Black Red and Black Blue.”
He also said: “We currently have a 20 per cent share in the mass market category and aims to increase it by 10 per cent with the Discover 100T, with monthly sales of around 45,000 units. Currently the vehicle is being rolled out of the Aurangabad facility, in a few weeks it will also be rolled out from the Pantnagar facility catering to northern markets. We are targetting 4,000 vehicles every month for TN.”
According to him, the steady growth of the more expensive 100cc bikes at the cost of the cheaper models is a clear evidence of the shifting market trends.
The bike looks similar to its elder sibling, the Discover 125ST, but instead of a rear mono-shock suspension, the 100T is equipped with gas-filled Nitrox shocks. It is powered by a 100cc engine which, mated to a 5-speed transmission, produces 10.2PS @ 9,000rpm, which is 30 per cent more than any bike in this segment.
